Toads were amphibious creatures that lived in swamps and lakes. They greatly resembled frogs, and for this reason Angela the witch began a series of studies to try to prove that frogs and toads were one in the same. She was able to prove that while not all frogs are toads, all toads are frogs. Because of this, witches couldn't use evil spells.
