Thane

Thane lived in Carvahall. He had a wife named Calitha and five children. In Eldest, Thane argued that Albriech had stolen Thane's scythe, claiming that he saw someone who must have been Albriech. He and Ridley later got into a dispute with Albriech over how to handle the Empire's soldiers and the Ra'zac. It resulted in a fight which was broken up by Roran who insisted that the issue would be referred to arbitrators when the conflict with the Ra'zac and the Imperial Army was resolved. He later accompanied the rest of Carvahall to Surda and helped row during the running of the Boar's Eye after which he is not mentioned again.

Real World Connections

The word "Thane" referred in Shakespearian Scotland to an aristocrat of roughly equal rank to an English earl.
