Rimgar

From Inheriwiki, the ever-growing Inheritance database

The Rimgar, or the Dance of Snake and Crane, was a series of poses that the elves developed to prepare their warriors for battle, but they mostly used it to stay in shape. The Rimgar had four different levels, based on flexibility and strength. The first two actions were to bring the hands from the side to above the head then bend down and touch the ground with the palms.

[edit] Eragon's training

During his training with Oromis, Eragon stayed on the first level because he was not very flexible. He first learned the Rimgar on the Crags of Tel'naeír from Oromis, who did the Rimgar very easily. The Rimgar did not cause any episodes with Eragon's injured back until right before the Agaetí Blödhren. Eragon even had trouble with the Rimgar after his back was healed. The reason for this was that after his back was healed he was moved by Oromis onto the third level because of being part elf. This was hard even for some elves but the difference was they did it for years before going onto the final level.
