A Process spell was a spell which could be stopped at any time.

The magical absolutes were short spells in the Ancient Language, but if faced with an impossible task would drain all energy from the user to the point of death. Process spells were longer, requiring words for individual steps but could be stopped at any time should the spell start to drain too much energy. For this reason, experienced magic users such as Oromis preferred to use process spells to absolutes.
