|Chronological and political information|
Othmund was a character never actually seen in The Inheritance Cycle, but was mentioned in two chapters. In "Message in a Mirror," Nasuada explains to Saphira that Othmund slaughtered three Urgals in their sleep. He was not caught, but bragged about the deed that morning. Saphira asked if the Urgals killed the man's family, but she explains that he slaughtered them for no reason other than that he hates Urgals. She now has to execute him, but it will not make her popular with her human constituents and the Urgals still not be satisfied. Saphira responds with words of wisdom. Nasuada later mentions Othmund in "The Whipping Post," explaining to Roran that he was executed.
