Kingslayer

From Inheriwiki, the ever-growing Inheritance database

[edit] Meaning

Kingslayer (or Kingkiller) is an inferred title of either honor or disgrace that was bestowed upon someone who successfully killed a person of royalty. Several kingslayers are mentioned in the Inheritance Cycle.

[edit] Known Kingslayers

  • Galbatorix slew King Angrenost about a century before the events of the books.
  • Murtagh Morzansson slew King Hrothgar. He is the only Kingslayer to have not been one at the start of the books, and become one during them.
  • An unnamed novice swordsdwarf killed King Kaga when he tripped on a rock.

[edit] Possible Kingslayers

  • King Palancar's son is said to have killed him, thus making him a Kingslayer. It is possible that this son was Thanebrand the Ringgiver, who was said to have succeeded Palancar.
  • Eragon Bromsson could possibly become a Kingslayer, if he destroys Galbatorix as he plans.
  • If Galbatorix does not die by Eragon's hand, someone else could kill him and gain the title.
  • It has been speculated that Queen Islanzadí will die, thus making her killer a Queenslayer.
  • King Orik and King Orrin could both possibly be killed, making their murderers Kingslayers.
  • Murtagh could possibly kill Galbatorix and Islanzadí in Book IV. If this happens, he will likely be the first person in the history of the Empire to have slain three monarchs.
