Star Sapphire
From Inheriwiki, the ever-growing Inheritance database
The Star Sapphire, or Isidar Mithrim, was a gigantic red stone, sixty feet in diameter and carved to resemble a rose in full bloom, that decorated the ceiling of one of Tronjheim's many halls. It was a crowning glory of dwarven architecture. Also called the Star Rose.
During the Battle of Farthen Dûr, Arya was forced to shatter the sapphire, momentarily distracting Durza so that Eragon could deal the Shade a death-blow. The dwarves were angered by her action, and refused to move the shards, leaving the wreckage where it fell on the floor of the hall, in mourning.
Saphira promised to rebuild the art piece, after she returned from her and Eragon's training in Du Weldenvarden, which occurred in Brisingr after the dwarves rebuilt the entire structure. Saphira repaired the massive gem, which left it with a slightly altered coloring afterward.
[edit] Speculation
- It's been rumored that the Star Rose is the Rock of Kuthian and/or the Vault of Souls and holds a ton of energy so Eragon can defeat Galbatorix. More details in the Rock of Kuthian and Vault of Souls/Speculation pages.
