Gûntera's Mother was the primeval she-wolf, mother of the Dwarven god Gûntera, believed to be the most ancient being other than the Giants. She conceived Gûntera, fully formed, at the dawn of the stars. She might be the ancestress of the Wolves and of the Shrrg of the Beor Mountains.
Real-world connections[]
- This story is similar to the legend of Auðumbla's and Búri, in Norse Mythology.
- It is also similar to the story of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. When they were young, a she-wolf cared for them until they grew older.
