Eridor

From Inheriwiki, the ever-growing Inheritance database

Eridor was one of the many dragons that lived during the days of the Dragon Riders. In Eldest, Eridor was said to be the "king of the wild dragons". He was the successor of Vanilor (and was possibly his son). Now there are theories that he has been reincarnated (when Eragon goes to rescue Saphira after her fight with Glaedr and steps on a green shell-fragment of an obvious dragon egg). Christopher Paolini said in an interview that there would be a green dragon; however he never specified if the green dragon was the one Galbatorix had or not. So it is a possibility that Eridor has already hatched and is either a wild dragon or has a Rider and has been in hiding. Either way he may play a big role in Book IV.

[edit] Fan theories

Many fans speculate that Greeni, the fan name of the green dragon which might appear on the cover of Book IV, will be named Eridor. This would also comply with the title patterns of starting with 'E', and six letters total which would make a possible name for Book 4. But that is unlikely if only because Brisingr broke the pattern & it would not make sense to pick it up again.
