Blödhgarm was an elf. He altered his appearance according to his perception of beauty.

Blödhgarm was the son of Ildrid the Beautiful. Not much else was known about his family.
[edit] Abilities
He was an extremely competent elven spellcaster. He was the leader of a group of twelve elven spellweavers. Presumably, he was very talented in magic to be assigned the leader of the twelve spellweavers. His physical appearance did not lend him any additional abilities.

In appearance, he had the fang of the wolf, the pelt of a forest cat, and the eye of the eagle. He had blue fur which some women found beautiful. He also had a musk-like scent that attracted only females.
[edit] Role in the Varden
He was assigned by Islanzadí to support Eragon and Saphira, along with his eleven other spellweavers. They helped Eragon battle Murtagh and Thorn by combining strength. Blödhgarm and the other elves acted like Eragon's assistants with every conflict he faced.
The twelve spellweavers were loyal to Islanzadí, who supported the Varden.

Together, the twelve were powerful enough to withstand three of the Forsworn simultaneously, albeit with a friendly dragon in the air supporting them.
[edit] Scent
Blödhgarm himself had a queer musk surrounding him that attracts females, which could be an attempt to find a companion or simply an unanticipated side-effect. Nasuada and Elva could counter the musk by concentrating on the taste of horehound, which was apparently extremely acrid in flavor, based on the memories of Nasuada from her time in Farthen Dûr, though it seemed his smell had no effect on Arya. Soon after Blödhgarm arrived, Trianna placed a ward on Nasuada that protects her without her having to concentrate on horehound. His name in The Ancient language means "Blood Wolf".
