In this chapter, Nasuada's coronation takes place. Then the leaders of each race pledge the friendship of their races to her, and King Orrin swear his allegiance to her. Feasts and celebrations follow the coronation. Afterwards, Eragon and Saphira fly to Dras-Leona, Belatona, Feinster and Aroughs and release everyone who had sworn fealty to Galbatorix from their oaths. Then Eragon returns to Brom's grave. He asks the Eldunari, if it is possible to revive him, but they reply, that even if they succeeded, there is a possibility, that Brom won't be who he once was and that death is the way of things. The oldest Eldunari, Valdr says to leave the dead to the earth. Then Eragon forces himself to come to terms with Brom's death. He honours Brom by changing the epitath to,, Here lies Brom, who was a Rider bonded to the dragon Saphira, Son of Holcomb and Nelda, Beloved of Selena, Father of Eragon Shadeslayer, Founder of the Varden, and Bane of the Forsworn.
